Area Unemployment Rates for September

According to data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, 91 of Tennessee’s 95 counties reported unemployment rates below 5% in September, even though most counties saw an uptick over the previous month.
Unemployment rates in 77 counties increased from August to September. Rates decreased in five counties and remained the same in 13 counties.
Sevier and Moore counties recorded the state’s lowest monthly unemployment rate at 2.7%.
In Franklin County, the unemployment rate rose from 3.6 percent in August to 3.7 percent in September.
Grundy County stayed the same at 4.6 percent, and Coffee County went up from 3.4 percent to 3.5.
